Celebrate 50 years of Landsborough Museum

On 3 April 1976, the Landsborough Historical Society opened the doors to the newly established Landsborough Shire Historical Museum, which grew to become one of the largest community-run museums in South East Queensland.
Staffed entirely by volunteers, the Society curated thousands of photographs, documents, and objects that tell the story of Landsborough, Caloundra, and surrounding districts. Over the decades, their dedication protected more than 14,000 historical items, ensuring the former Chambers remained a cherished heritage landmark and a dynamic museum for the region.
Sunshine Coast Council officially took over the management of the Landsborough Museum from the Landsborough and District Historical Society in 2022.

Part of the Australian Heritage Festival

18 April to 18 May 2026 Bringing Heritage to Life. This year’s theme, “Change”, invites all Australians to reflect on how history shapes us—and how we shape history in return.
