Maroochydore is growing as more residents, visitors and workers continue to enjoy the Sunshine Coast and our emerging city centre. To accommodate this growth, Sunshine Coast Council is planning to widen and upgrade Sugar Road and Maud Street which together, form one of the main routes into Maroochydore.

Council has released an updated concept design for the Sugar Road and Maud Street upgrade which is now available to view on Have Your Say. You can also view the project newsletter which summarises the project, the changes and consultation activity to date.

Council released a draft concept design to upgrade Sugar Road and Maud Street for community and stakeholder feedback in 2023.

Division 4 Councillor Joe Natoli said overall, there was strong support for the project, with more than 80 per cent of survey respondents indicating support for an upgrade.

“The community’s ideas and inputs from community consultation informed further investigations by Council resulting in an updated concept design,” Cr Natoli said.

“Here on the Sunshine Coast, we’re connecting and engaging with our communities to build a better future for everyone.”

Key areas of focus for the updated Sugar Road Maud Street Concept Design include:

  • improving the safety and accessibility of walking and riding paths
  • increasing landscaping opportunities for improved amenity
  • reviewing traffic flow to and from side streets.
