Mooloolaba rides high on a wave of tourism accolades

Sandcastles Mooloolaba was voted #10 and Oceans Mooloolaba #17 in a list that included Australia’s most prestigious hotels, such as Wolgan Valley, Qualia and Park Hyatt Sydney.

No other resort location was represented in the list more prominently than Mooloolaba, highlighting the destination’s growing recognition with international and domestic travellers.

The announcement comes on the back of Mooloolaba hosting its latest world-renowned cruise vessel, Azamara Quest, as part of a major expansion of the port’s cruise schedule. Ten cruise ships and over 17,000 passengers are expected to call into Mooloolaba from December 2015 to September 2016.

Visit Sunshine Coast CEO, Simon Ambrose, said that recognition by Trip Advisor and cruise passenger guests of the friendly welcome and top class service they were receiving in Mooloolaba was paying well-deserved dividends.

“Mooloolaba is a naturally attractive holiday base, but these days travellers are very discerning and the service attitude shown by the teams at Sandcastles and Oceans is clearly setting them apart,” said Mr Ambrose.

“On top of the Trip Advisor survey, the feedback that we are receiving from cruise passengers during their visits to Mooloolaba has been fantastic. It comes across in the remarks from passengers that they feel genuinely welcome when they come ashore, and that the service they are receiving from our volunteers and in restaurants, shops and attractions will most likely see them return to the Sunshine Coast in the future.”

Sunshine Coast Mayor, Mark Jamieson, paid tribute to the two hotels for their service commitment.

“Congratulations to Sandcastles Mooloolaba and Oceans Mooloolaba for what is an absolutely outstanding achievement,” Mayor Jamieson said.

“When you consider the enormous number of hotels and stunning locations around Australia, it really shows what an incredible job the managers and staff of these two fantastic hotels are doing to be ranked among the very best in the country.

“This comes hot on the heels of our accommodation houses in Montville being ranked number one on the 2015 Australian Hotel Reputation Rankings released by trivago - the world’s largest online hotel search site.

“With the Sunshine Coast tapping into more tourism channels via cruise ship visits and our expanding flight schedules at Sunshine Coast Airport, it’s fantastic that our hospitality industry is raising the bar and providing guests with outstanding service.”
