From secret coves to vibrant promenades, the Coastal Pathway offers picturesque stretches of winding paths hugging the shoreline with parks, lakes, beaches and bushland dotted along the way.

The Sunshine Coast Coastal Pathway is 73km long and stretches from Bells Creek in the south to Coolum in the north. It takes advantage of the spectacular coastline that is thoroughly enjoyed by residents and visitors.

The pathway is split into nine segments, called connections, and links our beaches, parks and leisure areas. Whether you're looking for a half day cycling adventure or just a beachside stroll, there is something for everyone.

We’ve curated a guide to our favourite slices of coastal adventures.

Here are some local favourites:

Military Jetty Golden Beach to Bells Creek Boat Ramp- 1.5km one way

This delightfully peaceful and secluded section of the Coastal Pathway offers an enjoyable short stroll with a shaded pathway. This is accessible and suitable for families and all age groups.

Take in the beauty of the Pumicestone Passage and Bribie Island from Military Jetty by stopping to enjoy a picnic or fish and chips from the local takeaway across the road. This popular fishing and boating spot is also home to plenty of bird life, with a bustling population of pelicans to keep you company.

Enjoy all this beautiful foreshore path has to offer including fitness equipment and a playground at Keith Hill Park, ample parking, beaches and plenty of spots to setup a picnic.

Bokarina Boulevard Park to Warana Beach - 2.9km one way

Bokarina Beach Access

Offering an enjoyable shaded and slightly hilly path, this section of the pathway is nestled between popular surf beaches and the coastal dunal system.

Situated in close proximity to Beach Access 239, Bokarina Boulevard Park is a tranquil oasis with a play space offering adventurous play elements such as climbing walls, slides and swings, as well as a lounge net connected by a rope bridge.

Starting at Bokarina Beach, visit the local café and enjoy a take-away coffee from the lookout shelter at Beach Access 239.

This stretch of the Coastal Pathway provides access to the beach in 11 locations. Finish off your walk or bike ride soaking in the sea breeze at the lookout shelter at Wyanda Park.

Toilets and a playground can be accessed at Wyanda Park as well as at Bokarina Boulevard Park

Walk around Lake Currimundi – 2.5km one way

Suitable for the whole family, start your day at the popular entrance to Currimundi Lake by cooling down in the calm waters of the lake.

Enjoy the surrounds of Cliff Hargreaves Park that overlooks the lake and has a playground, barbecue and picnic tables, natural shade, beach showers as well as public amenities. Alternatively, you can purchase food and drinks from the beach front cafes.

Continue on along the Coastal Pathway as it crosses over the Nicklin Way bridge to Crummunda Park. The naturally shaded park along Currimundi Lake provides a playground with various elements such as a multi-level fort and flying fox. It also features exercise equipment and a half basketball court. There are various accesses to the water, some via a jetty so you can try your hand at fishing.  

Feeling energetic? Continue on through Kathleen McArthur Conservation Park and even wade through the entrance to Currimundi lake at low tide to make a full loop! Currimundi lake is the perfect spot for water sports and fishing.

Coolum (Tickle Park) to Point Perry and Second Bay Lookout - 1.2km one way

Tickle Park Coolum is located right on the beachfront, next to a popular patrolled surf beach and across the road from the main shopping precinct.

This lively community park boasts a playground, skate park with shade sails, large open grassy area to kick a ball around and plenty of natural shade.

Follow the wide Coolum Boardwalk as it hugs the coastline for 600 metres to Point Perry, a rocky headland that marks the Southern Boundary of Coolum Beach. From here there are great ocean views north up the coast to Peregian and the Noosa Headland and south to the sheltered beach, First Bay, and rocky bluffs beyond.

Continue walking to Wilkinson Park and onto the Second Bay Park and lookout to enjoy more incredible oceans views of this northern part of the Coast.

Please remember these are all shared pathways so always be mindful of the pathway rules and respectful to other users. If you’re on a bike, enjoy the journey and ride at an easy pace and particularly keep an eye out for kids, prams and our four-legged friends.

  • Currimundi Connection: Currimundi Beach to Moffat Beach – 3.2km
  • Caloundra Connection: Moffat Beach to Bulcock Beach – 4.5km
  • Pumicestone Connection: Bulcock Beach to Bells Creek – 6km
