Better run for sport lovers using popular complex

Accessing one of the Sunshine Coast’s most popular sporting facilities is now going to be much smoother and safer.

A busy intersection at the Coolum Sports Complex has received a congestion-busting upgrade.

The complex, on David Low Way, is surrounded by the Noosa National Park and is at the northern end of the town centre. It covers an area of about 17 hectares and is home to rugby league, cricket, netball, tennis, croquet, soccer and swimming.

As part of the Coolum Sports Complex Master Plan, improved pedestrian and vehicle connectivity was recommended.

A new exit lane (slip lane) has been completed by Council’s internal construction team, Civil Asset Management, to ease congestion for people exciting the sports complex when multiple events are on.

The exit lane was added to the intersection to allow cars leaving the facility to merge easily and prevent congestion piling on David Low Way. New lighting and a new footpath were also finished.

This improved intersection is a welcome addition for the growing complex and was made possible with funding from the Queensland Government’s South East Queensland Community Stimulus Program and Council.
