Nambour Heritage Soundtrail

Enjoy an audio story trail that features 15 stories of Nambour told by locals

The Nambour Soundtrail is a new GPS activated, audio story trail that features 18 stories of Nambour told by locals including Bob Collins, June Upton, Brent Miller, Lyndon Davis and many more. The trail is narrated by Powderfinger’s John Coghill and has a cool soundtrack from musicians Lee Hardisty and Leon Tussy. Visit significant sites in Nambour such as Collins Café, Vogue Cinema, BCC Supermarkets, C-Square and Bayards and learn about the history of the town.

The trail is experienced as a walking tour of Nambour, however, the trail can also be accessed from your desktop computer. The project is jointly funded by the Heritage Levy and Nambour Activation Plan. This will be the first 'Soundtrails' experience in Queensland (there are already a number of them in NSW).

Start the Nambour Soundtrail

The self-guided tour starts at Nambour Library, where you can use the free council Wi-Fi to download the Soundtrails App to your tablet or smart phone. Remember to bring your headphones.

Walk distance 3.4 km return. Allow 1.5 hours to complete the walk and listen to the stories.

You can also choose to be an armchair traveller and listen to Soundtrails from the comfort of your home via the Soundtrails website.

How to download the App

Download the app onto your smart phone or iPad, see yourself on a GPS map and walk freely in and out of sound fields. With original compositions, local voices, and world class production, Soundtrails truly brings a place alive!

  1. Download the app via the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Download the individual Soundtrail you want to follow.
  3. Put on your headphones and start walking.

If you are on site you can walk in and out of stories as you follow the map on-screen. GPS will track your location so you trigger stories at specific places. If you are somewhere else in the world, listen to stories by touching the pin icons on the map.

You can find more information on the Soundtrails website.
