The temporary car park project is now open for public use and includes:
- 124 temporary car park spaces (4 hour limit)
- digital signage displaying number of empty spaces available
- foreshore pedestrian walkway
- seating and picnic table
- beach access
- street lighting
Further information is available in the Project News[275KB].
Overview
Initially the former northern Mooloolaba caravan park site will be used as a temporary car park to provide alternative parking options while the Brisbane Road public car park development is underway.
Council is still committed to ensuring that this valuable community land is developed in accordance with the council endorsed Mooloolaba Master Plan available on council's website.
The long term vision for the foreshore is to create a vibrant public space, with permanent parking relocated away from this area. This includes removal of this temporary car park once Brisbane Road public car park development is completed, allowing the creation of an additional 6,200 square metres of foreshore parklands.
