It feels like a win win when you purchase a freshly grown, freshly picked pineapple for a dollar, especially when you know the farmer is still likely getting than the supermarkets are paying.
Even better, keep your eyes peeled for households selling or giving away their excess produce, especially during citrus season.
Where to find roadside sellers
Grapefruit
If you're after something specific, pop it in the search. We typed in 'grapefruit, Sunshine Coast', which led us to a local nursery in Coes Creek, where a local had dropped in a load of enormous pomelo's.
A peeled pomelo
A pomelo is thought to be the daddy of grapefruit, while its mummy is an orange. Delicious and in season now. Less tart than a grapefruit, this fruit produces lots of juice. Feel for heavy fruit.
Sunray Nursery were also selling ginger, local honey, seed potatos and tumeric alongside plants of course.

It's also worth giving a like to dedicated pages such as @sunshine coast roadside stalls. Activity can fluctuate, so help them out by sharing a stall you know of.
