The Nambour Chronicle
The main newspaper for the Sunshine Coast from 1903-1983
The Nambour Chronicle and North Coast Advertiser was first published in 1903. For 80 years, the newspaper reported:
- local, national and international news
- social and sporting events
- business activities
- local opinions and notices.
The newspaper includes many photos and advertisements. It provides a glimpse into the past of the area now known as the Sunshine Coast.
Sunshine Coast Libraries digitised the Nambour Chronicle. It is available electronically, as follows:
1903 – 1958
Editions of the Nambour Chronicle from 1903-1958 are out of copyright and are available via the National Library of Australia’s Trove.
1959 – 1983
Editions of The Nambour Chronicle from 1959-1983 are within copyright and are available to search and browse in branch at the Heritage Library (located in the Nambour Library).
Heritage Library staff will log you in via a public PC located at Nambour Library where you can search and browse.

Project
The Nambour Chronicle was the first Australian newspaper to be digitised. It was a shared project of Maroochy and Caloundra libraries, in partnership with State Library of Queensland, Micrographic Applications and the Sunshine Coast Daily. In 2008, the project won the John Oxley Library Award and the National Trust Queensland Silver Heritage Award.
