Mary Grigor Centre: Collection storage and rehousing project

In 2019 Cultural Heritage Services received $13,630 Community Heritage Grants funding, from the National Library of Australia. This funding, along with Heritage Levy funding, has delivered improved preservation of collection material by rehousing objects in a new compactus storage unit within the Mary Grigor Centre archive storeroom. The collection has been rehoused to meet best practice and provide increased capacity to safely store additional collection items that have been removed from Bankfoot House.

Council acquired Bankfoot House and its contents in 2004 for the purpose of preserving the history of the region and of the three families that lived there, as well as conserving the properties extensive and intact in situ collection. In 2008 Bankfoot House was entered onto the Queensland Heritage Register.
